Ozone Dog Wash System: Ozonated Water and UV Sanitizing

An ozone dog wash system uses ozonated water, made by a generator built into the machine, during the bath to support cleaning and help reduce odors. After the dog leaves, ozone, ozonated water and UV sanitize the empty washing chamber, so each dog starts in a chamber that was sanitized after the last one.

Drezen calls this the Ozone Therapy System. It is a hygiene feature of the machine, not a treatment for the dog.

The bath runs first, with the dog inside, and ozonated water is part of it. When the cycle ends, the door opens and the dog leaves. The door closes again, and ozone, ozonated water and UV sanitize the empty chamber before the next customer. Our guide explains every stage of the wash cycle.

01

What Does Ozone Do in a Dog Wash?

Ozone is a reactive form of oxygen. Dissolved in water, it is used during the bath to support cleaning and help reduce odors. After the dog leaves, ozone and ozonated water also sanitize the empty chamber, which keeps the washing environment hygienic from one customer to the next.

Ozone works alongside the shampoo, not instead of it. The five dispensers still dose the shampoo and conditioner you choose, and the 360° spray applies them as a fine mist (how the 360° fine-mist spray works). Water treatment plants use ozone for the same reasons: it is a strong oxidant, generated on site, and also used for odor control (US EPA).

How Does the Machine Make Ozonated Water?

A built-in ozone generator converts the supply water into ozonated water during the bath. There is no ozone to buy, store or dose by hand. It is produced inside the machine as the cycle runs, because ozone is unstable and is always made at the point of use.

On site, the machine needs only a water inlet, drainage and power. Like every other component, the ozone generator is fitted in our own workshops in Hebei, and each machine is tested as a complete unit before it ships fully assembled. Why Does UV Run Only After the Dog Leaves?

UV light is for the surfaces of the empty chamber, never for the dog. It runs in the sanitizing phase, after the dog has left and the door has closed. SE-2025A and FA-2025A both use a 265 nm UVC-LED module rated IP68, sealed for a chamber that is sprayed with water every cycle.

A wavelength of 265 nm sits in the range where the germicidal effectiveness of UV light peaks, about 260 to 265 nm, which is also where DNA and RNA absorb UV most strongly (ACS Photonics, 2022). IP68 means the module is dust-tight and protected against continuous immersion in water. [VERIFY: door interlock, and how UV is prevented from starting with a dog inside]

04

What Happens to the Ozone After Use?

Ozone is unstable, so it breaks down into oxygen shortly after use. That is why the machine makes it when it is needed instead of storing it. During the cycle, the air system keeps air moving through the chamber and exhausts humid air from the unit.

The air system balances 40% fresh intake air, 40% recirculated air and 20% humid exhaust air, and the incoming air is filtered. If the machine stands in an enclosed room, plan ventilation for that exhaust. [NEEDS CLIENT DATA: how and where ozone gas is vented, and how long after the sanitizing phase the door opens]

05

Why Use Both Ozone and UV?

Each reaches the chamber in a different way. Ozonated water reaches the surfaces the spray wets, and UV acts on the surfaces its light reaches directly. Running both after every wash supports a more hygienic washing environment, with no extra step for your staff between customers.

Ozone and UV are one part of the machine’s hygiene design. The body is galvanized steel with an anti-rust, scratch-resistant surface treatment, the core components are IP65-rated, and your team runs a refill and hygiene check about every 2 weeks. See the other systems inside a Drezen machine.

What Ozone and UV Change for Operators and Dogs

For a business, the value of ozone and UV is less about the technology and more about routine. The sanitizing phase runs on its own after every wash, so hygiene between customers does not depend on who is on shift.

For the Operator

You still run a refill and hygiene check about every 2 weeks.

For the Dog

The windows keep the dog in the owner’s view during the wash.

What the Evidence Supports, and What We Do Not Claim

Ozone is a strong oxidant that water treatment plants generate on site and use for disinfection and odor control, as the US Environmental Protection Agency describes. The germicidal effectiveness of UV light peaks at about 260 to 265 nm, the range in which DNA and RNA absorb UV most strongly, according to research published in ACS Photonics.

These sources describe the technologies, not Drezen machines. We publish performance figures for our machines only when we have test data for them. You may see ozone products sold with skin and coat claims. We do not make those claims, because that is not what this system is for.

Safety Features and the Operator's Routine

The safeguards are built into the machine at our factory, alongside its electrical safety and certifications. Your part is a short routine and the right site.

Built-in safeguards

Your Routine

Check refill levels and the machine’s overall hygiene about every 2 weeks, follow the operating manual, and never start a sanitizing cycle with a dog in the chamber.

Before Installing Indoors

Plan room ventilation, because the air system exhausts humid air from the unit. Ask us for the venting details for your room before you install. [NEEDS CLIENT DATA: ozone gas level in the chamber during the bath and after the sanitizing phase, in ppm; UV dose and exposure time]

Ozone Dog Wash FAQ

In an ozone dog wash, ozonated water is used during the bath to support cleaning, and ozone breaks down into oxygen shortly after use. UV never runs with a dog in the chamber; it belongs to the sanitizing phase after the dog leaves. Ask us for the technical data for your market. [NEEDS CLIENT DATA: ozone concentration in the bath water]

No. The ozone system is a hygiene feature of the machine. It supports cleaning during the bath and sanitizes the empty chamber after each wash. It is not a treatment for any skin, coat or ear condition, and a dog with a skin problem should see a veterinarian.

No. Five independent dispensers dose shampoo and conditioner automatically at a set ratio, so you can offer up to five products. You choose what to stock, such as hypoallergenic or deodorizing shampoo, and you can source it locally or buy it from Drezen’s own shampoo factory.

The full wash and dry cycle takes 20 to 30 minutes on average, and you set the wash and dry duration of each of the three programs in the backend. The sanitizing phase runs automatically after the dog leaves. [NEEDS CLIENT DATA: how long the sanitizing phase runs, and whether it is included in the 20 to 30 minutes]

There is no scheduled component replacement. Every machine has a 12-month warranty, and any part that fails because of a manufacturing defect is replaced free of charge with an original factory part. Lifetime technical support is available online, 24/7. [NEEDS CLIENT DATA: expected service life of the ozone generator and the UV module]

Yes. Both models work indoors and outdoors. Indoors, plan ventilation for the room, because the air system exhausts humid air from the unit, and check the site requirements for indoor installation before you choose a spot. [NEEDS CLIENT DATA: ozone venting details]
